Thanksgiving and an Internship

Brett and I were able to drive with my sister up north to my grandma's house for Thanksgiving. The best part is that my parents and other siblings drove south to get to the same place. It was good to see all of them in the same place. My mom and sisters  then spent a day with us in Provo which became the icing on the cake.

With my grandma's small house and dozens of aunts, uncles, cousins, etc we got a little stir crazy after a few hours so we took it outside. Tingey family events always end with everyone outside with a gun. I am a little proud of how well us Tingey girls can shoot. Our dad taught us well.

My favorite part of the afternoon was when Brett stepped aside and helped me, my mom, and my youngest sister Hailey shoot the handguns. Hailey was so excited to shoot the .22. You could tell she felt cool.

Now about the internship:
My husband is a stud. He needs a Public Relations internship in order to graduate this spring. A while ago he applied for an internship in the administration building here at BYU and after a series of interviews has found out that he got the job! Starting in January he will be working for/with the PR department under the president of the university. Isn't that great? Talk about a great internship. Good job honey, I am proud of you.

We Ran a 5k!

Saturday was a big day for us. We ran our first organized 5k. Not only was it our first one together, but a first for both of us individually. I have never really been a runner, but Brett started while he was on his mission. Running is still not my favorite thing to do, but I am learning to enjoy it more each time. Something about finishing wants me to simultaneously quit while I'm ahead and keep doing it again. Its a weird feeling.

Jesse and Emily were awesome enough to run with us. They have run all sorts of races, even up to a half marathon, so they were great support.

Right after the race. If I look exhausted, its because I was. About this time we realized we didn't take any pictures near the finish line, so we headed on back there to pretend like we had just finished.

Brett recreated what he wishes he would have really done across the finish line.

Family Pictures for Two!

So these are the pictures from this weekend! Kirsten did a fantastic job. I am so happy with them, and if Brett was a girl, he would love them too! Really though, he was a fantastic sport.

Now all that is left is to pick one and maybe send out some Christmas cards? We shall have to see.

While Husbands are Away

Last weekend Brett and his brother Scott drove up to Rexburg to visit their other brother Matt. That left me with Friday afternoon and evening and all day Saturday of time to fill on my own. This was only the second time since we have been married that we have spent a night apart, so it was pretty interesting.

Brook came and spent the night with me Friday. It was fun to have the time with my sister. We ate ridiculous amounts of food and watched chick flicks. I had almost forgotten how much I loved to watch a good chick movie that makes you cry.

Saturday Brook had an intramural volleyball game and I went to the Stake Relief Society Super Saturday with some other girls in the ward. It was a great way to spend a large chuck of a Saturday.

Saturday afternoon was taken up with taking pictures. The lovely girl in the middle is Elisabeth. Brett and I made friends with her and her husband since we moved to our new apartment in the summer. She has a friend Kirsten that loves taking pictures and has recently decided to start a business. In order to build up her website and whatnot, she has been taking tons of pictures of their friends. It was Elisabeth's birthday this week so her present was pictures with her girl friends. I was flattered to be invited to join in for the group.

These are a few of my favorites.

Can we just talk for a minute about how good my hair looked? I was very pleased.

This next Sunday Kirsten is going to take some more pictures of Brett and me. I feel silly calling them 'family pictures' because it is just the two of us, but that is really what they are. But hey, if someone offers to take pictures of you and your husband, you can't really turn it down. I am hoping that the snow we are getting will still be pretty when Sunday afternoon rolls around.

Halloween was pretty chill for Brett and me. We wore matching outfits (Batman T-Shirts and blue shorts!) when we went on our run. Since its just the two of us we didn't get any pictures, but it was these two shirts.

We also watched the Blazers beat the Lakers with some friends. It took the entire first half for the boys to set up the TV, but at least we saw the win!

Work on the other hand, was a different story. Our entire department dressed up as a group. We were the recruiting Mariachi Band!

We spent several hours in the afternoon going around to all the departments singing songs and handing out candy. They also had it set up so that any employee with kids could bring them and we had a Trick-or-Treat. The kids were the best part of the day.

I made this little guy's day when I guessed his costume right away. It also made my day that I got to take a picture with Hawkeye!
