Tingey Family Visit 2012

Last weekend some of my family come into town. It was my mom, Brook, Cole, and Hailey. Sadly, Dad had to work and Sierra couldn't miss soccer practice, so they weren't able to come. Luckily we were still able to enjoy ourselves.

Bridal Veil Falls again. Its so close to home and such a good excuse to get everyone out of our little apartment that we almost had to go!

Brett keeps up his thing with cliffs.

My Momma

Brett and I explored to the other side of the waterfall while both Mom and Hailey both took pictures.

Here is Brook! Ready to start BYU in her Cougar t-shirt.

Climbing beyond this point is strictly prohibited? What do you think Brett did?

If you look closely in this picture you can see the orange smudge that is Brett. Climbing beyond the sign. Luckily Hailey didn't follow him that far.

Cole spent the whole time trying to build up the side of the pool to get it deeper. Since he did nothing else, I am sure he succeeded to some degree.

Saturday we all drove up to Salt Lake City to see the sights and see everyone but Brook (who is staying with us until she can move into her apartment) off on their trip home. We had some previous engagements back in Provo in the later afternoon, so we didn't do the whole tour of Temple Square. We got see City Creek and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building before we had to say goodbye.

Sorry this picture is slightly askew. I didn't notice until I pulled it up on the computer. I love the architecture of this building. It is so beautiful it makes me wish I was a better photographer.

Our whole group with a view towards the temple. It was great to see these guys. I'm glad that they were able to come down and spend a few days when they dropped Brook off. Looking forward to when we see you guys again!

Getting Fit

So believe it or not, I used to be in fantastic shape. Growing up, my parents kitchen counter was the perfect height to lean backwards and crack my back on. I did that and mom would poke my stomach and say "Oh wow! Did you know you have really nice abs? That's a six-pack!" It would stroke my ego a little and I would move on with my life.

Then I tore a tendon in my hip and my shoulder within a couple weeks of each other. That put my legs and arms out of commission. Before I knew what was happening, I leaned on the counter to crack my back, mom poked me and said "Ooohhh. Sorry."

That was three years ago. Why is it taking this long to try to get back in shape? I have no idea. Maybe its the fact that I hate running. Maybe its the fact that I know just how difficult it really is to get back into good shape. Maybe I just didn't want to. Honestly, it's probably a combination of all of these.

Well now I'm here to say that this is my third week of running with Brett. Three weeks! Three weeks and each time I come back I no longer fell like I am immediately going to collapse. Three weeks and I am only walking once.

I'm not pretending that I don't still have much further to go. My goal is to run a 5K with Brett in the next little while, then a 10K in spring, and maybe (just maybe) a half marathon at the end of next summer. I think a year is enough time. I just have to keep a positive attitude about this running thing. Sadly, I feel like this picture (found of course on Pintrest) shows exactly how I feel.

Summertime Adventures

This post will have pictures from summer in general. I tend to just rely on the fact that my sisters-in-law will take all the pictures of anything that goes on. This leaves me with random pictures that are too little by themselves and need to be grouped with other random pictures. So here we go.

Sunset outside the cabin that housed the Lee Family Reunion.

Me and Megs trying to take a picture of our matching shoes. Where are the shoes though?

Family softball game also during the reunion. Just low key rotation hitting. I learned that its really difficult to hit the ball playing slow pitch. So difficult for me.

Brother and sister. I just think this picture makes Michelle and Brett look both like they are having fun and are tough.

Waiting for the large Lee family picture.

Can I just say that we are a cute couple?

This last weekend we went camping with Scott and Megs up at Payson Lakes. It was fun to just hang out with those guys for a day. Laurel, although not camping, was the hero of the weekend. She drove up and saved our camping site, she let Brett and I borrow the equipment that we needed, and the next day she fed us lunch on the way home.

I love sitting around by a camp fire. I don't know what it is about camping, but I always stay up really late without even realizing it by just sitting around the fire.

Not sure which lake, but one of the Payson Lakes. Scott and Megan brought some kayaks and we just spent a while playing on those before just sitting in camp chairs chatting and eating some sunflower seeds.
